I do this all the time. Travel to hot places and complain that I am too hot. I don't do well in the heat and I sweat profusely. I always say, if it is worth doing, do it well. I am really good at sweating. Some locals have a sweat cloth tucked into the back of their shirt they pull out every once in a while to wipe their face. My sunscreen is wiped off very early in the day.
It took me three days to get to Cebu. A car, ferry, train, plane, bus, plane, taxi...most modes of transport. Then a flight to Palawan the next day. A long trip into the tribal area, Aborlan, in an open truck. So bumpy. A Filipino massage as they say. Then a km walk to our accommodations mostly up hill in the heat.
Open air sleeping but bug nets were all set up for us. I prefer their bug nets to mine as they are up and not touching my skin. No running water but buckets of water to wash in. Did I say hot? Yes, even at night it was hot. Some of the people I travelled with were from hot climates and they did not seem to find it as hot as I did. Thinner blood I think.
I never did learn much of the lanuage, what I did learn I have mostly forgotten anyhow.
